Optomap (Retinal Imaging)

OptomapThe Optomap Retinal Scan instantaneously generates an ultra-wide field image of your retina (inside of your eye) revealing important information for the comprehensive evaluation of systemic and ocular health. Images captured by the Optomap Retinal Scan include more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image. Traditional cameras reveal only 10-12% of your retina at one time. Seeing more of the retina at once allows your eye doctor more time to review your images and educate you about your eye health.

Currently, OHIP does not offer coverage for advanced diagnostic testing such as the Optomap Retinal Scan.

Your Optometrist at the Ottawa Optometric Clinic recommends all patients have an Optomap Retinal Scan at each comprehensive eye examination to ensure you have a digital record of your retinal health on file which can be monitored for changes over time. At the Westboro Optometric Clinic a digital retinal image is also obtained for each
adult patient.
