About Us
Our practice is built around our optometrists: meet our team of friendly eye doctors.
The Ottawa and Westboro Optometric Clinics offer full-service eye care to the residents of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. Our mission is to provide you with the highest quality eye care using state of the art technologies in conjunction with our professional and knowledgeable team.
The Ottawa Optometric Clinic traces its roots from the practice of Dr. Earl Whan. This office was purchased by Drs. Roland des Groseilliers and Margaret Hansen-des Groseilliers in 1967. At the time, the clinic was located at Billings Bridge Plaza and initially supported one part-time optometrist and a single receptionist.
The practice was expanded at Billings Bridge in 1972 and again in 1978 to accommodate new associates and their growing practice. In 1990, they decided to move down the road from Billings Bridge Plaza and built a new office that is still the home of the Ottawa Optometric Clinic at 1285 Kilborn Avenue. To keep up with ever-increasing patient volumes the office was renovated in 2008 to provide an inviting open-concept space which improves the office flow for all our patients, and allowed the creation of a seventh examination room.
In 1992, Dr. William Clarke joined the practice and became a partner. In 1997 the Westboro Optometric Clinic was established on Richmond Road in Westboro. At about the same time Drs. Eric DesGroseilliers and Serge Fauchon joined the group and became partners as well. Dr. Shawn Charland joined the group in 2006 and became a partner in 2007. After joining the practice in 2008, Dr. Nathan Stolch became a partner in 2010.
Due to increasing patient volumes and growth within the Westboro community, the Westboro Optometric Clinic moved and doubled its size in 2010 and can be found directly across the street from its previous home on Richmond Road in the heart of Westboro village.
Although they have reduced their hours, Drs. Roland des Groseilliers and Margaret Hansen-des Groseilliers will continue to see patients 3 days per week between May and September 2011. After more than 40 years of practice, Drs. des Groseilliers and Hansen-des Groseilliers have announced they will be retiring as of October 2011.
There are currently 13 optometrists that make up the Ottawa and Westboro Optometric Clinics.
